SVH Honors Certified Nurses

Certified nursesSebasticook Valley Health (SVH) is proud to announce that two of its nurses recently completed advanced nursing certifications: Kim Newby of Peri-Operative Services, received CNOR certification, and Raegan Ward became a Certified Emergency Nurse or CEN.

SVH President/CEO Victoria Alexander-Lane, who began her healthcare career as a nurse, praised the accomplishments of SVH nursing staff. “Voluntarily testing themselves against national standards, our certified nurses at SVH are role models of professional accountability. Congratulations to Kim and Raegan for distinguishing themselves through their commitment to lifelong learning and career advancement. SVH encourages and supports our nursing staff in becoming certified, since certification demonstrates our commitment to providing exceptional patient care.”

SVH Chief of Nursing Officer Charles Klein, MS, RN, stated, “The certifications that Kim and Raegan received are different than obtaining an RN license, which assures the public of required entry-level skills to care for patients. Certification is an expert credential reserved for those who meet the rigorous practice, continuing education, and testing requirements in their specialty – and certification is linked to fewer medical errors and increased confidence. I am very proud of Kim and Raegan, I commend their achievements, and I encourage everyone to pursue certifications as future career developments.”

Kim Newby, RN, BSN, RNFA, CNOR, has been a nurse at SVH since 2007, where she cares for patients during surgical procedures in the Peri-Operative Department. Raegan Ward, RN, CEN, has been a nurse at SVH since 2002, working primarily in the Emergency Department and assisting in the Diabetes and Nutrition Clinic as a Diabetes Educator.
