Heartsaver Infant/Child/Adult CPR
This course is designed to prepare a wide variety of people as first responders. Students learn the skills to assisting someone who is choking, in need of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and how to contact emergency services. This class offers a course completion card. Heartsaver First Aid
This course is designed to prepare participants to give immediate care to someone who is ill or injured before emergency services arrive. Education includes First Aid basics that include how and when to call for help, the contents of a first aid kit, and information on medical emergencies, injury emergencies, and environmental injury, along with practical skills practice are class components. Family and Friends CPR
This course is designed to prepare people to provide CPR in a safe, timely, and effective manner. It is intended for people with limited or no medical training and do not require a course completion card. Early recognition of signs of heart attack, stroke, choking and cardiac arrest along with practical skills in relieving choking, performing CPR on adults, and how and when to call emergency services complete the course. Supersitters
This course is designed for students in grades 6-8 who are interested in learning the skills to become an effective babysitter. The class covers parent/sitter agreement and responsibilities, behavior management, emergency preparedness, general first aid principles, age-appropriate toys and games, and an introduction to infant care. Students who successfully complete the course receive a certificate of completion. Space is limited and pre-registration and payment is required. In-a-Heartbeat
Early recognition of heart attack symptoms and the need to call 911 is the key message of the In-a-Heartbeat program. This free program can be delivered to a variety of audiences including service organizations, worksites, schools and the general public. The program can be delivered in a 15 or 30 minute presentation. Training is also available to individuals who are interested in becoming trained to deliver this program at their worksite or to the general public. Tar Wars
Developed by the National Academy of Family Physicians, Tar Wars is a tobacco prevention program directed to 4th and 5th graders in local schools. The focus of the program is for students to identify the short and long term effects of tobacco use, the cost of using tobacco, the reasons students choose to use tobacco, some of the physical effects of tobacco exposure, and how advertising influences ones choices. Offered during the school day, during the months from September-April, the 90 minute presentation is conducted by the Community Health Educator. New Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS)
This course is for the health care professional who is required to have a healthcare provider certification. Topics include (but are not limited to) CPR skills for the adult, infant, and children; use of the AED; rescue from choking; and use of bag-mask devices. This is not a renewal course and is designed for new certification. Space is limited. Pre-registration and payment are required. Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) Renewal
This course is a renewal class for healthcare providers who currently hold a Healthcare Provider BLS card and need to update certification. Skill demonstration is required, in addition to a written test. Space is limited. Pre-registration and payment are required.
