The Board of Trustees of Sebasticook Valley Health (SVH), at its annual meeting on April 27th, recognized Michael Hodgins, outgoing Board Chair, for his contributions, leadership and commitment to the SVH Board, hospital and community since his chairmanship began in April 2010. Mr. Hodgins will continue to serve as a trustee.

SVH’s incoming chairman is Michael Gallagher of Hartland. Also at this meeting, David Richardson of Carmel was elected as Vice Chairman of the Board.

Mr. Gallagher has served on the SVH Board since 2004. He retired in June 2012 from MSAD53, where he was an education professional since 1977 and superintendent of schools since 2002. Mr. Gallagher was instrumental in obtaining grant money which provided almost $4 million in upgrades for Warsaw and Vickery schools, as well as the Burnham Village School when it was still open.

Also an education professional, Dave Richardson has been an active member of the SVH Board since 2007. Mr. Richardson is the State Representative for House District 23, which includes Carmel, Etna, Hermon and Stetson in Penobscot County. He is a retired educator of 28 years, where he taught Middle School Language Arts. He and his wife Diana live in Carmel.

Rep. Richardson returns for service in the 125th Legislature being appointed to Chair of the Education and Cultural Affairs Committee. He previously served on the Island Fisheries and Wildlife Committee.

SVH is led by community volunteers and we value the time and commitment these individuals offer our organization on behalf of all the people in our region.
