SVH announces Breast Cancer Awareness Walk

Release Date: 09/01/2015

Join us on Saturday, October 17th, for the Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk, which will be held at MCI’s Wright Gym in Pittsfield. Walkers can register at 9am at the track field behind Wright’s Gym, which is where the walk will start at 9:45am.

Walkers can choose either a 1.1 mile or a 2.1 mile walk route – both start and finish at the MCI campus. Route maps and MCI volunteers will be available to assist with questions along the way. The walk route will proceed to Main and Somerset Avenue in Pittsfield and circle back to finish up at the Community Health Fair in Wright Gym.

The walk is held in conjunction with the SVH Community Health Fair, which will be held again at MCI’s Wright Gym. The community health fair provides seasonal flu shots for adults at least 18 years old, nutrition education, hands-only CPR/Pet CPR instruction, senior resources, health screenings, and local health services offered throughout the community.

Every year, the SVH Breast Cancer Awareness Walk raises money for the Nancy Stone Fund, which provides free mammograms and other breast health services to area women who cannot afford these services because of a lack of insurance or underinsurance.
