Valley Arts Alliance installs new art at SVH

Release Date: 07/01/2015

Members of Valley Arts Alliance hung another series of seasonal paintings in the hospital lobby areas at Sebasticook Valley Health (SVH) in Pittsfield on June 15th. In partnership with Valley Arts Alliance, which is a group of over thirty artists and supporters of the arts in the Sebasticook Valley region, SVH hosts a rotating art exhibit for public viewing.

What began in January 2014, the exhibit features artwork by local artists using the theme of seasons as their guide. SVH President and CEO/EMHS Senior Vice-President Terri Vieira commented, “Our patients and visitors look forward to viewing art in our hallways and waiting areas. It’s a privilege to offer opportunities for local artists to showcase their original artwork in our public spaces, and these beautiful prints and paintings infuse color and endearing images that represent our region outside the walls of our hospital.”

The summer landscapes, which are the latest installment in the Seasons exhibit, are by local artists Jeanne Finley of North Newport, Terri deNatale of Pittsfield, Floyd Lawrence of Newport and Bonnie Ross of Detroit. The artwork will be on display throughout summer and the exhibit will transition to autumn-themed artwork in September.

According to their website (www.valleyartsalliance.org), the Valley Arts Alliance supports locations for exhibiting works by our visual artists in the Newport and Pittsfield areas. The group’s goals are to offer an opportunity for artists and groups living here to collaborate and create new opportunities to be creative in the arts.

Accredited by the Joint Commission, SVH comprises a progressive 25-bed, critical access hospital and a wide range of outpatient services throughout the region. SVH is a member of Eastern Maine Healthcare System (EMHS).
