People of all ages volunteer at the member organizations of Eastern Maine Healthcare. Each working in a variety of settings according to their personal preferences and individual skills.

Selecting the right volunteer opportunity is important. We encourage our volunteers to try new things and grow into more challenging assignments and special projects as their interests, lifestyles and knowledge change. There are dozens of opportunities for volunteers throughout Eastern Maine Healthcare, from one-time special events and health programs to ongoing opportunities in patient care, business and public reception.

Volunteers work in hospital gift shops, serve as visitor guides, answer telephones at reception desks, assist nurses with non-medical tasks, comfort patients and families in waiting rooms, transport patients where appropriate, provide clerical support, and assist in many other ways.
