"We're grateful for the public support for the SVH Women's Health Center," stated Mr. May, "and as a way of thanking everyone, we're holding a very special event for area women on the last Saturday of October." The event will feature various free services for attendees that includes free paraffin wax dips and mini-manicures; information about women's health issues - including SVH's new varicose vein service with Pedro Hernandez, MD, FACS (of Somerset Surgical Associates in Detroit); free adult health screenings for osteoporosis and cholesterol; demonstrations on acupuncture and more; and a "Mother and Daughter Tea" for mothers and their 9-12 year old daughters to hear current health information from Sebasticook Regional Family Care's Emily Cianchette, MSN, FNP-C, and SVH Rehabilitation's Alycia Allen, BSN. The event will culminate with a raffle of an American Girl "Kit" Doll and book, with proceeds going to the SVH Dental Health Program that provides dental care education and dental care services to students in K-6th grades in two local school districts.
According to Linda Cregnole, director of the Women's Health Center, "Since we opened our doors in 2001, we've experienced tremendous growth by adding services like lymphedema therapy, stereotactic breast biopsies, and prosthetics. In the coming year, we anticipate adding even more services to help area women manage their healthcare more effectively."
