| SVH to Manage Hartland/St. Albans Emergency Unit Service |
| |
In a recent joint announcement, Harlow Powers, Chairman of the Hartland/St. Albans Emergency Unit Board and John C. May, President and Chief Executive Officer of Sebasticook Valley Hospital (SVH), stated that as of October 1, 2005, the hospital will begin taking on the day-to-day management role of the Hartland/St. Albans Emergency Unit. SVH will be hiring a coordinator/paramedic for the service. The ambulance will be located at the Hartland Fire Department. The goal of the service agreement is to create a collaborative effort in offering excellent emergency services in the region.
By managing the service, SVH offers the Hartland/St. Albans Emergency Unit Service the hospital's experience in managing an ambulance service. Oversight of the service will be provided by SVH's Manager of Emergency Services Bethanie Mercier. The coordinator will be employed by SVH and be responsible for scheduling all shifts for the emergency unit service. These shifts will include two SVH full-time paid positions working Monday through Friday along with a dedicated cadre of volunteers working the night and weekend shifts. SVH will also provide billing and management report services for the Hartland/St. Albans Emergency Unit Service. |
