Sebasticook Valley Hospital (SVH) President/CEO John C. May recently announced that construction for the hospital's new digital x-ray suite is underway and should be completed in April. Construction began in January 2008 and posed no disruption for imaging patients seeking radiology services at the Pittsfield hospital.

According to Mr. May, "Thanks to patient feedback and generous donations from employees, community members, and physicians, SVH is enhancing our Radiology Department with the installation of a new digital x-ray suite and renovating our patient waiting area. It is our primary goal to continue providing exceptional service to our patients to the very best of our abilities, and we thank everyone for their interest and patience throughout this temporary transition."
The digital imaging suite and waiting area is being constructed by Nickerson and O'Day and the digital x-ray machine was acquired from Phillips. According to Jennifer Aspelund, Radiology Supervisor, "Some of the new features that our patients will enjoy is that the table goes very low to the floor so they can get on and off it quite easily. Also, the x-ray images come up on the monitor in the control booth, so before the patient even leaves the room, we have verified the quality of their x-ray."
Acccording to Linda Cregnole, Director of Radiology Services, there have been very little challenges in maintaining SVH's busy patient workflow during the construction project. "Thankfully, our patients have shown great enthusiasm in the project and are eagerly anticipating this new phase of SVH's growth."
