Sebasticook Valley Hospital (SVH) President/CEO John C. May announced that two employees recently completed their doctorate work in physical therapy. Physical therapists Nicole Morse and Kristy Fogler received their degrees from Husson College.

According to both Kristy and Nicole, they chose to pursue doctorates so they could achieve a wider knowledge base, and because it allows them to become more specialized in physical therapy. "Many of the courses we took have helped us to provide enhanced patient care," said Kristy Fogler. Kristy described how one of her courses in radiology raised her awareness of specific patient issues. Nicole added, "We now have the ability to review patient x-ray films in addition to reading the report."
There are only two schools in the state that offer doctorate work in physical therapy—Husson and the University of New England. Both Kristy and Nicole chose Husson because they had completed both their undergraduate and their masters programs there.
According to Director of SVH Rehabilitation Services, Pierre Rougny, "Both Kristy and Nicole are great advocates for their patients. With their new clinical knowledge and ongoing level of professionalism, they are well equipped to give the most up-to-date care and better serve the community."
