As we approach the special time established in May for National Hospital Week and National Nursing Week, Sebasticook Valley Hospital (SVH) in Pittsfield makes preparations for two special employee awards. This is the third year SVH will present its Annual Nursing Excellence Award. Previous winners include Brenda Mendonca (2005 - Peri-Operative Services) and Jane Leary (2006 - Medical-Surgical Unit).
The Nursing Excellence Award is an annual recognition to honor the significant contributions nurses make to our hospital. The commendation is given to a staff nurse who demonstrates clinical excellence; commitment to SVH's mission, vision and strategic plan; emulates SVH's values and core competencies; projects a positive, professional demeanor; and strives for continued professional development and excellence. This will be the first year for a new award at the hospital – the SVH Pinnacle Award. Each year one employee will be chosen from nominees who have contributed to Sebasticook Valley Hospital's strategic priorities and emulate the hospital values and competencies.
