SVH Receives Positive Marks on CAH Survey

SVH Receives Positive Results on Federal Survey

This past week Sebasticook Valley Hospital operations were thoroughly reviewed in a Critical Access Hospital federal unannounced survey. The survey inspects all aspects of care provided at the Pittsfield facility. The surveyors review areas of hospital operations and if they find areas requiring improvement they issue deficiencies. SVH received no deficiencies in all but one area of operations and that was corrected before the survey was completed. On August 24th, SVH President and CEO John C. May gathered the management team together to deliver the following message, “The Critical Access Unannounced Federal Survey is extraordinarily important. We are fortunate to have the level of talent that we have here at SVH. We have achieved these positive results through dedication and hard work.” Special commendation was given to Sharon King, SVH’s Director of Performance Improvement. King and her team work with all areas of the hospital to help ensure a continual state of readiness is maintained. SVH Board member and former chairman Michael Gray attended the session and shared, “You have all stepped up to the highest level and you can feel proud to be associated with this hospital.” SVH was first awarded Critical Access Status on October 1, 2005 and with the successful completion of this survey is fully licensed as a critical access hospital for the next year. SVH, a Critical Access Hospital, also received accreditation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations on June 15, 2006. The hospital is a member of Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems.
