| SVH Opens Medical Practice in Clinton |
| |
| On Tuesday, August 29th, Sebasticook Valley Hospital (SVH) in Pittsfield opened a new medical practice on 1309 Main Street in Clinton, Sebasticook Regional Walk-In Care, a department of SVH. It is the first time in several decades that Clinton has had a community-based physician. Dr. James Baldwin has been hired by SVH as the primary-care provider for the practice.
SVH President and CEO John C. "Jack" May shared, "We believe offering a medical practice, based on Route 100, will be a tremendous benefit for the residents of Clinton, Burnham and the surrounding communities. We will see patients of all ages, from infants to older individuals. One of the unique features of the practice is that patients will be able to make a specific appointment time with Dr. Baldwin, or they have the option of walk-in care. It is a concept that we hope patients will appreciate – the convenience and ability to obtain care when they need it with the comfort of establishing their own family doctor."
"The town of Clinton and local citizens have been very helpful and welcoming our medical practice to town. From assistance through the town office to input offered by local residents over the past several months, we appreciate the enthusiastic response we have received."
During the weeks of September 5th and September 11th Sebasticook Regional Walk-In Care will offer free screenings and healthcare information including: blood pressure and osteoporosis screenings and education about the SVH Mouthguard Program and dental nutrition from 11 AM – 2 PM on the 5, 6, and 12th, diabetes self-management education from 11 AM – 1 PM on the 6th, and free cholesterol screenings from 9 AM – noon on the 12th. Information and displays about a wide range of programs, services and health issues will be on display along with viewings from episodes of SVH's Health Education Series as seen on WMCI-TV. There will also be healthy snacks and giveaways. Other screening and educational opportunities will continue to be offered throughout the year.
A public open house is scheduled in October at the new office location. All are welcome to attend and meet the staff of the practice. For more information or to make an appointment, contact Sebasticook Regional Walk-In Care at 426-0976 or TTY at 487-4590.
