Michael Holcomb of Parkman has recently been promoted to EMS (Emergency Medical Services) Coordinator for Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield. The SVH ambulance service includes twenty-four full-time and per diem employees.
Holcomb shared, "I am looking forward to the growth of the EMS ambulance service, more community outreach, and continuing our teamwork with other area EMS services. We are also in the process of preparing for the purchase of a new ambulance which we hope to have delivered by this winter."
Director of the SVH Emergency Services Donald Charlson, RN, MS, stated, "Mike Holcomb has been an outstanding paramedic with Sebasticook Valley Hospital's ambulance service and I look forward to working with him as the EMS Coordinator. The ambulance service is critical to the Sebasticook Valley Hospital's mission to serve the local community and Holcomb will be instrumental in Sebasticook Valley Hospital's goal for providing a continuum of quality care."
Prior to accepting the position of Emergency Medical Services Coordinator, Holcomb provided EMS coverage at SVH, Charles A. Dean Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home, Mayo Regional Hospital, Calais Regional Hospital, and Downeast EMS. He retired from the United States Navy after twenty years serving in locations from the South Pole to Brunswick, Maine, and on several naval ships. He worked as a rescue diver and swimmer.
Originally from the northeast, Holcomb received his education from Pensacola Junior College in Florida. He moved to Maine to be closer to family and is enjoying the recreational opportunities the state provides including hunting, fishing, ATVing, golfing and motorcycling.
