On May 1, approximately one hundred SVH employees, board members, and guests gathered at the Millennium Conference Center in Palmyra for the SVH Employee Recognition Dinner to honor employees for years of service milestones, recognize the 2008 Pinnacle Award nominees, and announce the recipient of the Pinnacle Award. Board of Trustees Chairman John Delile and Vice President of Operations Terri Vieira were guest speakers.
With presentations from their department managers, thirty-one SVH employees with 300 years of combined service were honored this year: Sandi Delano, Ellen Leadbetter, Robert Stackhouse, Brenda Mendonca, Dianne Kirouac, Linda Hustus, Linda Cregnole, Faylene Webster, Angela Fascione, Joan Leadbetter, Marian Tata, Dusty Walker, Cheral Cooley, Brenda Gould, Diane Franklin, Vicky Morris, Leila Seavey, Peter Deschesne, Hilary Lee, Sherry Tardy, Helena Hanscombe, Christopher Leonard, and Danice Rinderknecht. Specifically for the event, a splendid slideshow of photographs was silently projected on a screen that was lauded by vice presidents Terri Vieira and David Pease for the quality of work and for the capturing of the spirit of SVH. Mike Beane, a two-time nominee for the SVH Pinnacle Award, personally assembled pictures from both the extensive photo archives taken by SVH staff and from a group of touching black and white photos that were taken by Mike himself of the employees being recognized to bring a personal touch to the showing.
Vice President of Human Resources and Community Partnerships David Pease, along with Imaging Supervisor Jennifer Aspelund, the 2007 Pinnacle Award winner, recognized all of the thirteen nominees for this year’s award. The employees who were nominated for the second annual Pinnacle Award were Mike Beane, Ella Buker, Sandi Delano, Jon Delaware, Jayne Denbow, Mike Holcomb, Dawn Littlefield, Tammy Macomber, Dora Miles, Pierre Rougny, Judy Stitham, Sherry Tardy, and Lorren Thurston.
In his announcement of Sherry as this year’s Pinnacle award recipient, David remarked: “Sherry has continued to develop significantly in her role as an HR professional at SVH. Some of her greatest contributions and accomplishments over the past year include her responsibilities with physician recruitment, where Sherry has done a stellar job in developing relationships with physician recruiters and locum agencies. She is very adept at assessing physician needs, promoting SVH and central Maine and coordinating travel, housing, or family needs. Sherry also established state wide network of hospital physician and staff recruiters. She is very much respected by her peers. Sherry has also been very involved in EMHS Benefits Education and API/Lawson conversion, and represents SVH on the EMHS Recruitment Task Force and the upcoming Position Manager e-Hire conversion.
“Sherry’s greatest professional achievement in this past year is her recent completion of the HR Certification Preparation class at Thomas College. She was a little hesitant about returning to school, completing homework and sitting for a national exam. However, she was a star! Her participation and work was some of the best in class. She has created a lot of studying methods for herself that she willingly shared in class. I am very confident that she will be successful in passing the national exam in May.
“Sherry has evolved into a highly talented HR professional. I am so proud of her continued growth and contribution to the HR department. Her work, sometimes visible, sometimes behind the scenes has had tremendous positive impact in making SVH a better place to work by improving our workforce talent. Sherry has strong work ethics and links her work to our strategic pillars and works constantly and diligently in making SVH, the best small hospital in Maine.”
Congratulations to Sherry for receiving this year’s Pinnacle award. We have also learned that Sherry has also passed the PHR exam, which is another professional achievement of which she can be very proud!
This is the second year for SVH’s employee recognition program, the SVH Pinnacle Award. Each year, one employee will be chosen from nominees who have contributed to Sebasticook Valley Hospital's strategic priorities and emulate the hospital values and competencies. The nominees and winner are exceptional employees who inspire others to follow in their commitment to SVH and exemplifies why SVH is the “Best Small Hospital in Maine.” Nominees for this award are past Pillar Award winners and employees who are recognized specifically for the Pinnacle by their supervisors. |
