SVH and Dr. Silkes are providing this free informational session as one of its National Women’s Health Month events during May. All patients who have their mammogram in May at the SVH Women’s Health Center or who are scheduled for their mammogram in 2009 will be eligible to enter the drawing for a free plush spa-style Land’s End bathrobe. Those obtaining their mammogram in May will also be offered a free bone density screening with the portable unit that measures finger bone density. This provides a printout that patients can bring to their health care provider to see if a full bone density screening is indicated. The bone density screening shows the loss of bone associated with osteoporosis, a disease that can lead to bone fractures and fragile bone strength.
During the month of May, SVH is also providing free informational packets about women’s health and the "Deadly in Pink" campaign. This campaign provides information on tobacco prevention and cessation and education on how the tobacco industry targets girls and women in their advertising.
