Why do we measure our performance in caring for patients? At Sebasticook Valley Health, we are committed to providing the highest quality healthcare for our patients. You can be sure you are receiving the best care because we set goals that are at or above national standards!
In 2012, SVH was recognized as one of the top ten critical access hospitals in the United States for clinical excellence by the VHA; all three SVH Family Care primary care practices received the highest level certification as a Patient Centered Medical Home from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA); and for the second year in a row, recognition as one of the best rural healthcare hospitals in the United States by The Leapfrog Group. SVH has been consistently recognized by AVATAR International since 2002.
Across the nation, hospitals and healthcare providers are paying close attention to quality improvement. These data are reported to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The Core Measures shown on this site are data that we report to CMS. You will also see how our patients feel about our care, and how we measure our patient safety.
There are a number of ways to look at quality, and you may see these descriptions on other websites. Some facilities may use service quality and clinical quality as ways to differentiate types of care. Many organizations, including the Maine Quality Forum, define quality as safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient and equitable. You can
